What products and services does Not Just Closets (NJC) provide?
Not Just Closet sells, manufacturers. and installs custom wood storage systems. The size and complexity of the system can range from a single smaller reach-in closet, to large walk-in closets, pantries, laundry rooms, offices, craft room working and storage area, flex rooms, kitchens, garage storage, etc. Past projects have included an extensive quantity of residential as well as builder whole house closet/storage projects, commercial applications such as cement plant control room consoles, laboratory cabinets, administrative storage and office units, pharmacy storage areas, etc. NJC has even completed unusual projects such a horse trailer living quarters, van conversion, hobby rocket manufacture table and storage, etc.
What is a custom closet/system?
NJC’s custom closet/storage system is wood (melamine) based construction which is fully/easily adjustable—post installation. The projects are full-service turn-key projects from beginning to end. The custom manufactured systems are assembled and installed by NJC’s skilled craftsmen/installers. The units are manufactured in a manner that the hangs/shelves can be easily changed by the customer.
Is NJC a locally owned company?
Yes, NJC has been a locally owned and operated business, headquartered in Tijeras, New Mexico—in the East Mountains just off Exit 178 of I-40—east of Albuquerque where NJC completes it custom manufacturing plus a showroom at the location. Customers are welcome to visit both for the showroom and/or to discuss a project. Typically, NJC will come to the customer location for measurements, and discussions.
Does NJC have a full service project team?
Yes, NJC maintains a fully service manufacturing and installation team of professionals. NJC team has extensive experience in the completion of custom projects.
What geographical area does NJC serve?
NJC serves a wide geographical area. The majority of NJC’s customers are certainly located in the Albuquerque, East Mountains, and Santa Fe areas. Past customers have ranged south to Belen, west to Grants, north to Los Alamos, Taos, and Enchanted Circle, and East to Amarillo, Tx.
How long has NJC been providing custom storage services?
Under current management, NJC has been continuously operating for more than 15 years at the same base of operations, that being 792 NM HW333 (Old Hwy 66), Tijeras, NM . Prior management, at the same location, operated since the 1980’s.
What are the typical steps involved in the completion of a closet/storage project?
A typical project involves the customer contacting NJC by phone, email, etc. to discuss the customers desire to install or upgrade a closet, etc. During the communication, contact information would be provided, along with initial customer input about the task to be completed, and an onsite visit to the customer location would be scheduled. Upon NJC’s visit to the customer location, the site would be reviewed and measured, any further discuss about customer specific desires would be obtained, customer review and selection of material colors, and hardware to would be determined.
Subsequently, from the information obtained from the customer, NJC would prepare a project floor plan, elevation, and 3-D perspective of the design/s along with a price proposal for completing the project which would be emailed in PDF format. The information would be forwarded to the customer for review and feedback to NJC. Subject and any required revisions, etc. the plans and proposal would be resubmitted—as needed.
Once the customer was in agreement, and desires to proceed, the customer would sign off—approving the project and provide a 50% deposit for NJC to proceed with the project. NJC would obtain the required materials, schedule and complete the custom production of the project. Upon completion of the production phase of the project, NJC would schedule an install date with the customer. (Timing for project production is dependent upon the project size, as well as existing projects in NJC’s production queue).
On installation day/s the installers would load the NJC install van with the applicable materials, travel to the customer site and proceed to unload, assemble and install the project. The closet materials are brought to the site (flat) and assembled on moving blankets in or just adjacent to the closet, etc. Subsequent to the install, the installers would clean the installed units and installation area.
What materials are used for the custom closet/storage projects?
The sheet good materials used for NJC’s custom closets are thermos-fused melamine laminate (TFL) materials. The primary product used by NJC is the “Arauco—Prism TFL” melamine. All materials are ripped, edge-banded, drilled, and cross cut-as required. All exposed raw edges are finished.
Our melamine distributor typically stocks approximately 40 plus colors and textures—in addition to the base White and Almond colors. In addition, NJC has access to, and has used various other melamine manufacturer’s products.
With regard to closet hardware NJC routinely uses Hafele America sourced items such as full extension soft close slides, hampers, baskets, hang rods, wardrobe lifts, etc. Other products, such as Rev-A-Shelf branded products as also available and used.
What is the customer’s task with regard to the project?
The customer’s primary responsibility is to interface with NJC on the selection of materials, providing any specific information about items desired as well as providing access to the job site.
How long does it take to complete a project?
A project could potentially be as short as 4 weeks plus or minus, but it is not uncommon to require 6-8 weeks or more for larger projects. The length of the project is totally dependent upon the size of the project (number or closets, etc., along with NJC current work load-prior project in the queue).
